Website design overhaul for Autonavaimet.fi

Autonavaimet.fi is a happy returning customer, and this time I was tasked with doing a quick visual design overhaul for their website to coincide with the opening of their new Tampere location.

The aim of the redesign was not to build everything again from the ground up, but to utilize the existing elements such as logo and brand colours and other things from their old website and look that were deemed effective, and rearrange them a bit and go over the presentation of the website to make everything neater and more usable. I also designed the user experience and interface for their calendar reservation system that’s used to set up repair dates.

I was tasked with designing and building my new employer’s website. The website’s design was based on the Design System that I created for us as a practice project at the beginning of my employment at Varaani.

The aim of the project was to update our own website and visual identity and stay true to the philosophy behind everything we do: “Extra ordinary”.

I designed and built the website for Beans Oy. It was built using WordPress and the Avada theme.

The client had a strong visual identity to start with and good input on the designs, so it was easy and the end result looks great both on desktop computers and mobile devices.

Website for Autel Suomi

Web Design

Visual Design

I designed the visual identity, logo and website for Autel Suomi, which is an importer of the leading brand of car key coding devices Autel.

The project included the design for the landing page, product category pages and product pages for the webstore, and the “contact us” page. The visual identity and logo had to be designed in accordance to the visual identity of the brand the company imports, so there were some built-in constraints in the project.

Website for Pepper Catering

Web Design

Visual Design

I designed the website for a Finnish Catering company, Pepper Catering. They already had a visual identity that was utilized, so the web design itself was pretty straightforward.

The site includes a system to calculate the price for a whole catering package, which was a totally separate part of the project in which I worked as an UI&UX designer. The calculator will be released soon, but the main website is already up. The site also includes a web store, which I designed.

Icon Design

I designed the Tramway Alliance’s timeline website that condenses the whole history of the tramway project in Tampere in a simple timeline.

The project was done in tight collaboration with the local Värikäs Advertisement Agency’s Art Director Marianne Mattila and their Front-End Developer Sarianna Sarmastola. The challenge of the project was to devise a way to show a large number of events in chronological order, so that the user will find whatever they are seeking as easily as possible.

The project was an extremely welcome and educational experience, since I haven’t gotten to work with an actual Art Director a lot before. Marianne’s and Sarianna’s professionalism and experience provided me with a solid foundation on which to design the look of the website. I hope to work with them again in the future, since the project felt like a success in all areas.

Day counter web application for Tampere Tramway Alliance

Digital Signage

A web application meant for internal Digital Signage and Intranet use for the Trampere Tramway Alliance. It consists of two parts. The first part is the actual display page that shows the current date, week number and the number of days since the last accident was submitted. The page is displayed on a Digital Signage smart display at their office, in addition to their Intranet service. The second part of the application is a management page where the Tramway Alliance can go and submit an accident for a certain date, and add additional workdays for holidays so that the “days since” counter represents the correct number.

I designed the visual look and feel of the page, the UI & UX, and built the responsive webpage templates for both pages to future-proof the project for different display sizes and aspect ratios, and also ease of use for the management page independent of what device or screen the management page is used on. Outloud’s fearless developers programmed the backend and functionality for the pages.

The pages are understandably not meant for public viewing, and the numbers shown on the screenshots are example values we used in our tests, and have nothing to do with the Tramway Alliance’s actual statistics.

Bitwise recruitment campaign page

Web Design

Graphic Design

I designed a campaign page for Bitwise to recruit developers for their company. The idea of the page was to get the potential recruits to solve a coding problem that was contained in a file they would download, and then send their answer to Bitwise through the form in the page. The people who submitted the right answer would get a prize and be contacted with possible work opportunities. I designed the layout of the page, and a coder at Bitwise implemented it in code on their website.

It was very interesting to design a campaign page with a clear purpose in mind, and extremely rewarding to see my layout implemented by a professional developer. There were some minor changes to the visuals in the coding process by necessity of the platform and practical reasons, which is to be expected in such projects.

Website for Lajura

Graphic Design

WordPress

The website for a local company that works with flooring and interior wall finishes, designed for and implemented in WordPress. The goal of the project was to communicate to a potential customer the core services on offer on the front page in a clear manner through big links, and to provide a direct channel to contact the company for an offer about their work.

The basic idea for the visual identity was to have images of the company’s work to be the center of attention, with the rest of content supporting this. The structure of the website was kept simple enough inside the WP system so that the client could update and make changes to their website on their own, which is a great advantage for small companies.

I designed a website for a local Art Therapist and built it in WordPress. The goal was to create a simple and harmonious visual identity, which would give space for the paintings made by the Art Therapist, and also to empower the client to make changes to their own website. The website also included a contact form so that potential customers would have an easy access to contacting the Therapist about their services
